HOW WE STARTED
River City Search, now known as S.E.A.R.C.H. Nebraska, started in 2017 when a group of friends gathered at the Max. All because Norm Melichar had an idea. Norm, Bill, Lani, and Travis all thought it was time to drag leather and kink out of the basement and back into active status!
Norm and a friend had approached The Mining Company about reopening their basement bar (The Mine Shaft) for a one-time fetish themed bar night. That event became a huge success, and turned into a monthly event, occurring every second Saturday.
Then, a light bulb turned on – if that worked, why not go bigger? Why not create a space for all aspects of the kink and fetish community for all types of people? And thus, S.E.A.R.C.H. was formed! A board was created, bylaws were written, and S.E.A.R.C.H. became a 501c3 charitable organization. The S.E.A.R.C.H. acronym stood for the qualities the organization wanted to stand for: Social, Educational, All inclusive, Respect, Charitable, and Honor.
S.E.A.R.C.H. met often to plan events: educational and informative nights, kink/leather/gear nights, and a Kinky Carnival, to name a few.
Though only a few years old, the group continues to flourish and grow in numbers and beyond our Nebraska roots.
